Mr. Jonathan Farber

I am a lifelong Outdoorsman and Writer and Gemini award (Canadian Emmy) winning TV Producer, with 20+ years of experience in the news and entertainment industry. I left TV production to open a boutique testing and training facility for competitive cyclists, specializing in power based training (Canadian Power Expert for Powertap) as well as metabolic testing (VO2). I coached several athletes to National Titles and World Championships (age group), and wrote a recurring column in Canadian Cycling Magazine.

Cycling was only one of my passions, and after about 6 years of Coaching I started The Urban Outsiders, in order to connect nature curious urbanites with the outdoors.

I completed the first draft of my debut novel, in 2023, and spent the first half of 2024 revising it. I am looking for a publishing mogul to get it in to the world, where I expect it to bring in several hundred million dollars. I intend to buy one of the better continents with my vast literary profits, so if you hook me up with a great publisher, you can have one of the countries. You must govern responsibly.

You can let them know that its a humorous’ narrative non-fiction novel about life lessons learned fishing. The story unfolds chronologically, told fish by fish, beginning in childhood and travelling to the present.

I also continue to run multi day outdoor events/retreats for The Urban Outsiders, both in Canada and the US, bringing groups of 10-500 people together in nature, to learn fun skills that build confidence and competence in outdoor sport and recreation. The result is that participants feel invited and included in the outdoors, and more secure in pursuit of adventures big and small.
Past activities and training have included:
-learn to fish
-learn to fly fish
-orienteering
-intro to camping
-axe and knife throwing
-archery
-other cowboy skills incl. bullwhip and roping
-bushcraft and survival skills (focus on water, fire, shelter and rescue)

As a young empty nester, I am looking for more opportunities to write for publications specific to outdoor topics. I love to travel, especially for adventure, and I want to continue sharing those experiences, educating and entertaining readers across diverse groups.
