GO Laurel Highlands
Director of public relations and community outreach
Southwestern Pennsylvania
I love to talk about the Laurel Highlands, a beautiful, 3,000-square mile region in the Allegheny Mountain range of the Appalachian Mountains.
Home to the highest point in Pennsylvania (Mount Davis at 3,213 feet) as well as plunging valleys and gorges, the Laurel Highlands offers excellent whitewater paddling, hiking, biking, fishing and hunting opportunities.
We have eight state parks - including the 20,000-acre Ohiopyle - and two state forests.
In addition to outdoor attractions such as the 150-mile-long Great Allegheny Passage bike trail and the 70-mile-long Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail, we are the location of a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Frank Lloyd Wright’s Fallingwater as well as three other homes designed by the architectural genius.
The Laurel Highlands is home to Keystone State Park, which was voted the Best Fall Foliage Destination in the U.S. by USA Today readers, and was named the Most Scenic Road Trip in the Northeast by Good Housekeeping.
