Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) 2024 Conference

Local newspapers are fighting to survive. Their numbers and staff sizes have shrunk. But, among them, some writers still manage to cover the outdoors. How can local outdoor journalists focus their work so that it’s a unique and essential part of the community’s news coverage? Also, what are some of the novel strategies that newspapers are taking to become sustainable – from nonprofit and unique business models to community forums that rally public awareness?
